Dr. Su T Kang, DMD

Primary Dentist

Dr. Su Kang was born in South Korea and raised in Greensburg, Indiana. He attended Indiana University and completed his postdoctoral dental program in Indianapolis, Indiana. He also served in active duty military and finished his military career as Colonel in the Dental Corp.

Dr. Kang is married to Jina Kim. Together they raised 3 beautiful children, Sujin, Sungmin and Sungjae.

Dr. Kang has been in dentistry since 1989 and continues to serve the community and other medical missions throughout South America.

Dr. Kevin B. Carter, DMD

Primary Dentist

The Smile Louisville is pleased to announce that Dr. Kevin B. Carter joined our practice October 2014.

Dr. Carter was born September 11, 1957 at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and has lived in Louisville most of his life. He attended Butler High School and graduated from Doss High School in 1975. Dr. Carter subsequently earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Louisville. School of Arts and Science, and a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1983.

Dr. Carter has spent the previous three decades in the private practice of dentistry while recently retiring from a simultaneous 30 year career in the United States Army Reserve. Dr. Carter has been deployed overseas numerous times in support of United States military humanitarian operations in Honduras, El Salvador, Panama, and Ecuador and combat operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Dr. Carter has been a member of the American Dental Association, Kentucky Dental Association, and Louisville Dental Society for over 30 years.

Dr. Carter is married to Penny Crawford Carter of Louisville. Together they’ve raised two sons, Oliver and Neil. Dr. Carter enjoys primarily outdoor activities such as cycling, running, Scuba, fly fishing, hiking the Appalachian Trail, traditional grilling, and bizarre foods.

Dr. Jalon Morgan, DMD

Primary Dentist

Dr. Jalon Morgan was born in Hazard, KY and grew up in a small coal-mining town called Hyden. He strives to embody the spirit of Eastern Kentucky by bringing dedication, kindness, and empathy to his patients. He graduated from Morehead State University with a degree in Biomedical Science. He furthered his education by attending the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, where he earned a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree.

Dr. Morgan is a member of the American Dental Association and the Kentucky Dental Association. He serves the great community of Louisville by offering modern techniques in general dentistry and Invisalign treatment.

Dr. Morgan is married to his high school sweetheart, Kaitlynn Morgan, who is a passionate elementary school teacher. He enjoys watching and discussing films, gardening, visiting national parks, trying new restaurants, and playing with his labradoodle, Wicket.

Dr. Patrick Finley, DMD

Primary Dentist

Dr. Patrick Finley was born and raised in Louisville, KY and graduated from St Xavier High School in 2010. He then attended Auburn University where he received a BS in Zoology. He graduated from University of Louisville Dental School with his DMD in 2019.

He is married to Alyssa, who he met at Auburn, and they have a new baby boy August (Auggie) born in March 2021. Finley and Alyssa like to hike with their dog, Winnie, spend time at the lake, and explore new restaurants and breweries around Louisville.

Dr. Finley is an avid golf fan. He and his wife also share a passion for the Auburn Tigers in all sports, especially football. Dr. Finley says he excited to be a part of The Smile Louisville team and to continue his dental career with our fantastic patients.

Dr. Bob E. Spiller, DMD, MS

Orthodontist

Dr. Spiller was born in Ft Riley, Kansas and spent his early years living in different states/countries with his military family. He eventually graduated from Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt Germany.

Dr. Spiller attended Centre College of Kentucky and The University of Louisville School of Dentistry graduating with a DMD in 1980. Upon graduation he joined the US Army and was active duty for 12 years. During that time he returned to The University of Louisville School of Dentistry and completed a 2 year orthodontic residency, graduation with a MS in oral biology.

Dr. Spiller left active duty in 1992 and entered private practice in Southern Indiana and recently retired after 25 years. He maintained his military career by joining the US Army Reserves and retired after 31 years of service.

Dr. Spiller is board certified and teaches orthodontics at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. He is a member of the ADA, AAO, KAO and Southern Indiana Dental Association. He and his wife Pam have 2 children Rebecca and Robert. His hobbies include running, cycling, golf and eating out at local restaurants.

Dr. Nancy Shackleton, DMD

Orthodontist

Dr. Shackleton’s love of the world of orthodontics began as a patient. While undergoing treatment at the age of 16, she decided that she wanted to become an orthodontist.

After graduation from Mercy Academy in 1983, she attended Bellarmine University and the University of Louisville for her undergraduate education. She attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry where she earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and participated in oral cancer research. After graduating from Dental School in 1991. Dr. Shackleton opened a general dentistry practice providing dental care to adults and children for 4 years.

With her passion still in orthodontics, she entered the Graduate program in Orthodontics at the University of Louisville in July of 1995. Upon graduation in June of 1997 she received her Certificate in the Specialty of Orthodontics and Master of Science degree in oral biology. She has been published in the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics.

Dr. Shackleton devotes her professional time between her Louisville and Frankfort offices. She resides in the Highlands and loves spending time with her two Daughters Tori (22) and Elyse (19), and her Yorkies Bella and Reilly. She enjoys the outdoors, exercising, camping , gardening, reading and is an avid DIY’er!!
